Summer Gifts

Here’s a panorama of predominantly grandmother news to share!
(It's my blog and I'll crow if I want to!!!)

But first a bit of catch up.

Will’s seventh grade graduation. Yes it's a thing,
and Will was rightfully proud of a year of
solid achievement. Next year, a new school for Will.

Will is in the white shirt in the front row.

And next...

AVRIL’S, WILL’S AND MILES’ VISIT WITH GRANNE AND DAVID IN SALMON ARM

How I found them:
Swimming in Prestige Hotel’s pool.
Avril reading poolside.
Anne locked outside of pool area.
Finally...
Will saw Granne,
frantically waving at the pool door.
(Texting didn't work.)
Avril let Granne in.
Avril and Anne talked, a lot.
Boys swam and did boy water stuff.
Granne took photos.

Later, after dinner, a walk on Salmon Arm’s city wharf
which included breathtaking but undocumented par court
feats by Miles. Granne was impressed and..impressed.

THE NEXT DAY OF ACTIVITIES,
PRIMARILY DESIGNED

FOR BOYS.

Will and Miles are genetically programmed
(from both grandfathers)
to golf.

Will carries the dominant gene, that is, so far.

We found out later that David's grandson Ren also golfs,
another future tradition for all three to share.

AND DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND,
GO CARTS!
(AND MINI GOLF...)

Will broke into an full on grin as his cart took off.
Avril and I laughed at Will's utter pleasure at driving anything..
from golf carts, quads, snowmobiles and boats.

Miles in the foreground, and Will in the background.
(Will lapped the other racers.)

Each morning Avril and I met for coffee at Prestige (where
David was already busy at his landscaping job).
Since I help out with the floral pots, between us Prestige
has become a home away from home.
So it was a perfect place for the Fosters to stay.

At last the long anticipated, Annual Tradition arrived,
The Salmon Arm Water Slides,
enjoyed with fellow grandson Ren
with his mom Jjanet (David’s daughter).

Avril and Jjanet knew each other as teens, and now as
mothers of sons, our grandsons!

 Below, Miles recovers,

Ren languishes,

And Will gives directions.

I love this photo, showing how the three boys stuck together
to strategize and plan each slide. Later, their "planning"
managed to get them barred from the smaller slides.
But of course, this onlly enhanced male bonding.
Although Avril and Jjanet bought tickets to do the slides,
the three of us women bonded as well, for over three hours!
There was a lot to share.

The Last Day!

After coffee on the Prestige terrace (with Miles, who got bored and absconded to the Arcade), we went for a walk (except for David who had a work project happening) at the Bird Sanctuary. I have been waiting to take the Fosters here, since Avril is quite the avid birder, and the boys are very used to Avril's bird life.

A selfie (a deuxie?) with Avril, who is a selfie expert.."Look up Mom!!"

Remember...
she teaches drama!
(However next year, she's off to UBC to
work on her Master's.)

As usual, Miles was way head, out of sight, finding some unique adventure or daunting situation to conquer.

Good Bye!

And finally, a goodbye shared with David at Prestige, where he was working), and where he took this last photo. As our cars took off in different directions, I was so wishing I could follow them, at least to the city limits!!
Parting is always such sweet, sweet sorrow!!!
